Frequently Asked Questions
Who takes the photos seen on the site?
I, Mallory Brooks, take all the photos you see on the website (unless credited otherwise). I am the photographer and all the art is my own.
What is your process?
I like to experiment with my photography, especially on film. Some of the techniques I use are film soup and multiple exposures. These techniques allow me to play and create unique images that no one else can, even if it’s the same location or subject. I also develop and scan all my film myself at home instead of sending it to a lab.
What is film soup?
Film soup is an experimental film technique wherein the film is immersed in a “soup” of different substances (i.e. water plus things like salt and lemon juice) to create crazy effects. Every frame on the negative is different within the same roll and, each time, the process results in the unexpected. But that’s what makes it fun! Learn more about it here.
Why does my print look grainy and/or have marks on it?
You may notice imperfections like grain and other marks or textures in my images. That’s because shooting film inherently results in more grain than a digital image. The process of souping film also does weird things to the negative, causing scratches and cracks and lots of grain to occur. But it is in these imperfections that I find beauty and is what makes these photos unique.
Do you offer custom sizes?
Yes! If you don’t see a size listed on the site that you’d like, I’m happy to discuss if a custom size is possible for that particular print. Please note that additional shipping charges may apply for custom orders. Please contact me for a quote at mallory[AT]mallorybrooksphotography.com.
Do the prints displayed online look like they appear in person?
Colors can look different depending on what monitor or brightness level you’re using. I do my best to show what the images will look in person but please know that they can vary slightly in printed form.
Do you offer framing?
I do not offer framing at this time, but I am happy to assist you if you are interested in a custom framed order.
How long will it take to receive my order?
Processing time for prints is 3 business days. Shipping is an additional 2-5 days*.
*Transit times are estimated. Mallory Brooks Photography is not responsible for carrier delays.
Do you ship internationally?
Currently, international shipping is not available. Please contact Mallory at mallory[AT]mallorybrooksphotography.com to discuss international orders on a case-by-case basis.
Will I be charged sales tax?
If you’re a resident of Georgia, a 6%-8.9% sales tax will be added to your order, based on the county you reside in.
Do you accept returns?
In-stock 8x10 and 12x18 prints are eligible to be returned or exchanged in the event that they arrive damaged. All other orders are custom made just for you and cannot be returned or exchanged.
