Custom Commissions

Bespoke experimental photography for collectors and design professionals.

Mallory Brooks accepts a limited number of custom commissions annually for collectors and designers seeking experimental photographic art created specifically for their vision.

Commissions allow you to collaborate on subject matter and general aesthetic direction while preserving the unpredictable experimental process that defines Brooks' work.

Commission Possibilities

Specific Locations

Brooks can shoot at locations meaningful to you—your coastal property, a significant architectural landmark, your favorite neighborhood, travel destinations, or project sites for design professionals.

Subject Direction

Architectural elements, natural landscapes, coastal scenes, urban environments, botanical subjects, or abstract light studies. Brooks works across diverse subjects, transforming them through experimental analog techniques.

Scale, Format & Alternative Materials

Commissions can be produced in any size from Small (11×14") through Oversized (36×54"), or custom dimensions for specific architectural requirements. Multi-piece installations and triptychs available.

Alternative printing materials include metal prints, acrylic mounting, canvas, wall murals, or custom substrates depending on the intended environment and aesthetic goals.

The Nature of Experimental Work

Film soup and experimental analog photography create genuinely unrepeatable results. This is the work's essential characteristic, not a limitation.

Unpredictable Outcomes

  • Exact color matching is impossible
  • Results vary even with identical shooting and souping conditions
  • Some experimental attempts don't produce viable images
  • Chemical reactions create effects specific to that moment

What Brooks Can Control:

  • Subject matter and composition
  • Film type and shooting technique
  • Chemical mixtures and souping methods (based on years of experience)

What She Cannot Control:

  • Precise color replication
  • Exact repetition of previous effects
  • Guaranteed outcomes from experimental processes

This unpredictability is why each piece is genuinely unique. Collectors and designers who commission work embrace this experimental nature as the source of the work's distinctive character.

Commission Timeline

  • Initial consultation: 1-2 weeks
  • Shooting and experimentation: 2-4 weeks
  • Development and editing: 1-2 weeks
  • Production and delivery: 2-3 weeks
  • Total timeline: 8-12 weeks minimum

Rush timelines may be available for additional fees.

Commission Pricing

Custom commissions are priced individually based on scope, complexity, scale, and materials. Pricing includes shooting, film and processing, experimentation, consultation, and one final print at the specified size.
